Newcastle CVS is an independent registered charity that exists to support, develop, promote, connect and represent a thriving voluntary and community sector (VCS) in Newcastle. Our vision is for an improved quality of life in all of Newcastle’s communities and for all of its citizens. Our mission is to support the development of effective, sustainable and influential voluntary and community action in Newcastle. We do this by providing a range of services to meet the needs of voluntary and community organisations, helping those that are starting up as well as organisations that are already established. We also support joint working between voluntary and community organisations and with the public sector, and help to make sure the interests and concerns of the VCS are well represented. You can find out more about the impact of our work in case studies of our work and in our annual review and reports. Newcastle CVS is registered charity (number 1125877) and a company limited by guarantee (number 6681475). We are governed by trustees who are nominated and elected by our members. We have over 500 members from all sections of the voluntary and community sector in Newcastle. You can see all our members on the Newcastle VCS online database. Newcastle CVS is a member of NAVCA (National Association for Voluntary and Community Action) and NCVO (National Council for Voluntary Organisations) and other national organisations as we believe it is important to share information, disseminate good practice and influence decision-making that affects our sector. Newcastle CVS was set up in 1929, and we have worked over the years to make a real difference to the people and communities of Newcastle. |
