Newcastle Advocacy Centre

Advocacy is when a person makes sure that someone's voice is heard. This is by speaking up for them or supporting them to speak up for themselves.  On this page is information about the work of the Newcastle Advocacy Centre.

Advocacy Network Newcastle

The Newcastle Advocacy Centre supports Advocacy Network Newcastle which works to improve the quality and range of advocacy schemes in Newcastle (click on link for more information).

Citizen Advocacy

The Advocacy Centre operates a Citizen Advocacy scheme, offering long term one to one advocacy support for vulnerable adults in the city.  This includes people with a learning or physical disability, older people and people with mental health problems.  We prioritise people who have:

  • Difficulties in making their views known

  • A major life change to face

  • Inappropriate support from services

  • Poor quality of life

  • No-one independent with their interests at heart who can help them
