| Our Newcastle work |
|
There are an estimated 2,200 voluntary and community organisations (VCOs) in Newcastle of which around 900 are registered charities. The range of activities and services VCOs offer in Newcastle range from local volunteering projects to the delivery of public sector services. Newcastle CVS works to ensure that VCOs in the city can bring their experience, knowledge and expertise to influence the strategies and public services that have some impact on everyone that lives, works and visits Newcastle. We work with all the main statutory organisations in Newcastle to advise and inform them about the voluntary and community sector and to make sure VCOs are always considered as part of their planning. We work with VCOs across Newcastle to make sure they are informed about the latest consultations, local and national policy changes and how they may affect them. We support a number of networks and forums which provide an opportunity for VCOs to come together, and we provide support for voluntary and community sector representatives so that they can participate in multi-sector partnerships and are accountable to the wider sector.
