Newcastle Futures and worklessness
Even before the current sharp rises in unemployment, finding
ways to reduce the number of people classified as workless was becoming a
priority for policy makers. In 2006, Newcastle Futures was set up to
tackle worklessness locally. From the beginning the voluntary and
community sector was seen as a key part of Newcastle Futures' approach to
helping people, who are often amongst the city's most disadvantaged, to get back
to work.
This session will enable you to find out more about the approach
to worklessness in Newcastle and the role of the voluntary and community sector.
