Ellison Services is the community accountancy trading company of Newcastle CVS (Council for Voluntary Service). Ellison Services is currently celebrating its silver 25th anniversary. We now employ seven staff and are a specialist in providing a range of quality and cost effective financial services that meet the growing needs of charities, community organisations and social enterprises.  As a charity and VCS finance specialist we offer payroll and auto-enrolment services, book-keeping and financial support training. Alongside this we prepare year end accounts and perform independent examinations, and can complete tax returns for CICs and social enterprises.

We also offer bespoke advice and support to local community groups and large service providing charities across the region.

The trading company has a board of eight directors. Four are from Newcastle CVS and four are external directors. Our external directors have a range of financial experiences – from operating in a multi-national private company, independent financial advice, and managing a large charity with a trading arm, and this critically helps us improve our offer to the charity and social enterprise sector.

The board meets about five times a year In Newcastle and all board members are kept fully updated on Ellison activities. Meetings last around two hours. The length of membership for external directors is three years, with the option of re-election for two further periods of three years, a maximum period on the board of nine years. This is an unpaid role, but any expenses incurred will be paid.

We now have an opportunity for an external member to join the Ellison board for at least the next three years to help us improve and develop Ellison further.

We are looking for someone who can contribute to the board, have a good understanding of financial issues, understands the needs of small and medium sized charities and organisations, and  appreciates the charitable nature of our work and where there is no conflict of interest with our services.

If you think this could be you, please contact Judith Temple on 0191 2327445 or at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and, if appropriate, dependent on relevant experience as outlined above, we will arrange for you to come in for a chat with two of our Ellison board members.

We welcome all applications by 5pm on Friday 10th May 2019.
