Advocacy Centre North have been successful in securing a grant from Big Lottery Fund Reaching Communities to provide advocacy for people with neurological conditions (PWNCs), over three years (from September 2015). They want to appoint an evaluator to work with us and undertake a formative and summative, participatory two-year evaluation of our Neurological Advocacy Service in the context of the overall work of our organisation and the work of our partners. Ideally they would like the work to start during December 2016 but this is negotiable.

If you’re planning to shop online this Christmas (and actually any time!) you can help us by signing up to the ‘Give as You Live’ scheme.

Please note, there is no charge to you at all and the donations we receive from Give as You Live will go towards sending birthday and Christmas cards (including postage costs) out to our service users. Many of our service users are alone and the card we send them is often the only one they receive. Here is some of the feedback we have had which shows the positive impact the cards make:

“Thank you for my birthday card. It was the first one I have received after 34 years and it means a lot to me”. BME service user - October 2016

“Thank you to everyone at ACN for signing my birthday card. It really means a lot to me”. Mental Health service user - May 2016

“It was brilliant to get a card. I don’t get any cards from anybody else and it made me feel really good!” Mental Health service user - February 2016

It only takes a couple of minutes to sign up and makes a difference. Just select Newcastle upon Tyne Council for Voluntary Service as your chosen charity (Advocacy Centre North is part of Newcastle CVS) and make any online purchases through this site.

Use this link here and it’s really easy to sign up. You can even set up a reminder to make sure you remember to go through the site to access your favourite suppliers.

Please pass this on to colleagues, friends and family!

Thank you and happy shopping!
